Nitrile cork gasket material. Very good oil, aromatic fuel, and solvent resistance.

Nitrile cork gasket material. The only major downfall to cork is that it isn’t particularly good in resisting mould, fungi and acid. A nitrile/cork material with the highest tensile and tear strength. Medium compressibility makes it an excellent sealing material with relatively high tensile strength. Cork gaskets vary depending on the size of the granules used to manufacture the material and the base rubber compounds with which the material is bonded (commonly neoprene or nitrile). Cork/Nitrile or Nitrile bonded cork displays improved properties in oil resistance and is relatively inexpensive compared to other sealing material options. The nitrile adds properties to the cork such as resistance to oil, fuel, hydrocarbons, and water, with a durable physicality. . The compressibility of the material performs well in low torque or bolt pressure flange gaskets, particularly in lower pressure service. The combination of Nitrile and cork seal well at low bolt torque and flange pressures. For good oil resistance under low pressure, neoprene cork gasket or nitrile cork gasket materials are a viable option.
