Nov 12, 2021 · The ones I liked most are the HD Cart closely followed by the Relab one. The HD Cart in particular sounded spectacular to my ears, giving a sense of a real, cohesive acoustic space. Which IMO makes it more subtle than R2. It has an incredible way of putting tracks in a smooth space without having the reverb conflict with other elements in the mix. Jan 25, 2013 · What I noticed that increasing size / time in LX480 smoothes the reverb - it becomes less and less grainy. Now, the question is do I psyche myself up and go with PCM. At first I thought that this lack of grain is better when it comes to percussive, short samples, but I am not as convinced now. While there are many emulations of this classic unit, I haven’t used any that sounds nearly as good as the Relab. We believe this is the most accurate and versatile re-creation ever created of this legendary reverb. With the Valhalla verb, even when its close, it sounds very modern to me, more chorusy and doesn't quite create the 3d space the lexicon verb does. Long story short, I'm definitely going with Lexicon. The Valhalla and Waves ones by comparison sounded more like an effect glued to the sound - especially in the tail . The LX480 not only sets a new standard for quality and accuracy in plugin-based reverb emulations but also takes on industry-leading hardware reverbs.
